Are we losing a long term Vision

I had a few interactions a few top officials of two Major MNCs very recently regarding some big purchase for a client of mine. The purchase is a some thing which will come through but may not happen immediately. The moment the people who has to sell things realized that it wont happen this quarter the lost the interest and even stopped engaging the customer. My own experience and experience of a few of my friends confirmed to me that this type of behavior is not an exception but a normal thing. Are we as a generation becoming too short sighted.? Are we just focused on surviving today and not bothered about tomorrow.

Is it true that this is the same thing we are following as a nation , as a community, as a company , as individuals. I don’t see an institution built by us in any capacity in the recent past with a long term vision. Is it because of the consumerism whch ahas taken over our lives ?? Just loud thinking......

My view

Two things disturbed my conscience today. The first one was the disturbing news of 8 children drowning in the river at Kozikode. It left a deep sense of hurt in my mind as always when I hear about tragedies happening to children and more so in the last 3 years after becoming a father. When do we learn to value life, life of people who could be saved by some little acts of precaution or discretion from our side. Initial reports suggested the reason for the boat to capsize was because children tried to stand on the boat disturbing its equilibrium. I can imagine a boat full of students traveling with nobody to control full of fun and frolic trying to be adventurous not knowing what it could lead to. My heart felt sympathies with the families of the bereaved who has to live with this tragedy for the rest of life.

The other thing which left me wondering about the state of the nation was the services teams decision to not to play Cricket in Srinagar. Small thing may be but sends out lots of wrong message to the world about our nation. I am seeing a lots of discussions about who took this decision and I am bewildered by the fact that this is being debated internally for last 15 days and nobody in the leadership hierarchy had the foresight to find out its impact on the nation and the message it will send out to the world. What are they suggesting ?The Indian Army or services cannot ensure the safety of its own people some part of our country ?. We are going to host Commonwealth games next year and we want people to come down. Hope the people who took this stupid decision will be taken to task….
